About me and this blog

I started this blog to share my love of travelling on water – and on land. It should entertain you with stories of being at sea, cruising on a river or enjoying pre- or post-tours on land. I often try to stay a little longer in one place before or after a cruise, because one day is just not enough for one place. And sometimes, I even travel only on land.

You will find information about ports, cities and places I have visited. I also intend to write a short review of the cruise ships I have been on, to give you an idea of what the cruise was like.

About me

I love cruising, whether at sea, on a river or any other waterway. I wanted to travel since I was a teenager. But I didn’t realise at that time that it would be the best time to make a longer break at work. And I wouldn’t possibly had been brave enough.

However, as I got older, I had more opportunities and more money to travel. But as I still work full time, my travels are limited to holidays, because I wanted to form a career in Marketing too… I usually get five weeks off a year and try to make the most of it by scheduling it around holidays and so on.

My husband – with whom I travel most of the time – and I have decided to do our “world tour” in parts, instead of waiting until we are too old. It is not always to our liking, because I often have to squeeze in days, but it works best with our jobs. And it is fun anyway. So we try to be on tour as much as we can.

As a sailor, my husband has always loved travelling on water. When he first asked me if we should book a cruise in 2008, my first reaction was: “Are you crazy, that’s for old people only.” It was (and still is) a common cliché in Switzerland… But I said: “Why not? That led to our first cruise on Explorer of the Seas from New York to the Caribbean. And the rest is history: we haven’t stopped cruising since…

Who am I?

I am living in Switzerland. (You might already have found out, that I am not a native English speaker or writer… 😉 I am a creative person, I love trying out new stuff, and therefore travelling to places I have never been before.

Pictures below: that’s me, freezing on a ship in Alaska (wonderful), exploring Cambodia (exciting) and Sicily (just great). And having a coffee, which I do in almost every port, just to be, enjoy the time and watch the people go by.

Want to know, how many cruises I already did?

Most of the time we (my husband and I) cruised with Royal Caribbean, Princess Cruises or Celebrity Cruises, because we really love the “international flair” on those Cruise Lines, and everything is to our liking… but we often tried other cruise lines too…
